you don't have to be perfect

Because no body is.

there is no one on this planet that is perfect. so stop trying so hard to make someone else happy. if you have to constantly work to make someone happy, you shouldn’t be with that person to begin with. be yourself and someone will love you for it. there is someone out there right now who is wondering what it’s like to love someone like you.

and when you find that person it will be beautiful. it will be beautiful because that person will love you and all of your flaws. in fact, that person will try their best to improve your flaws, as will you with them. they may not even have to work to help improve your flaws because who they are alone will be enough to make you a better person.
Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the one thing that still stands when all else has fallen. -1 Corinthians 13:7-10
they will love you when the sun’s shining and when it’s raining. when it’s raining they’ll want to get up and dance in the rain with you when that’s what love is. love is loving someone through all of the many trials that life will bring. love is caring about someone whenever they’ve made mistakes because when you truly care about someone, that’s what you do, you forgive. they will love you for you and all that you bring to the table. when they look at you they won’t see who you were, where you’ve been, and the mistakes you have made. instead, they will see the beautiful person you really are. they know who you really are, and who you can be.
you don’t have to be perfect. the right people will love you for exactly who you are. if there’s one thing i want you to know, it’s that you’re beautiful the way you are. don’t change for anyone because you don’t have to. be yourself and someone will love you for it. never ever forget that.

18 things I’ve learned in the first 18 years

  1. No matter what you do, not everyone will like you.
  2. When you lose sight of God, you lose sight of yourself.
  3. Happiness is a choice.
  4. Alcohol won’t solve your problems. If anything, it will make them worse. It makes things hazy for a while; don’t confuse haze with healing.
  5. You don’t have to change the world. You have a specific purpose, so just be you.
  6. Sometimes it’s best to just listen.
  7. Love who you love with everything in you while they’re still here to love.
  8. Even though at times it seems as if there’s no beauty in the world, there is. Choose to see it.
  9. Parents are always right.
  10. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Live for today without fear of tomorrow.
  11. Sonic has better drinks than food.
  12. Memories are beautiful. Write things down, and take lots of pictures.
  13. Always remain humble.
  14. Give more than you take.
  15. It’s easy to be a follower, don’t be one.
  16. McDonalds coke is better than coke out of a can or bottle.
  17. Stay true to who you are and the right people will be sent your way in Gods perfect timing.
  18. Life is one big mystery, but that’s the beauty of it.

If Heaven wasn't so far away

My grandpa. My hero, my encourager, my role model, my supporter, my counselor, my number one fan. If it wasn’t for this influential man I would not be anywhere near the person I am today. Even though he’s been passed away for about a year now, not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. He was the most important person in my life. When I was in school, playing piano, dancing, I always did it for my Grandpa. I was always looking for ways to make him proud. He was the one I went to when I got all A’s and B’s on my report card, the one I wanted to listen to me play piano, (he always encouraged me to play piano, I think he was heartbroken when I quit) the one I wanted to always make happy. When he passed away, a part of me felt like I had nothing to work for anymore, no one to impress, no one to make happy. Yeah, of course I always want to do my best at whatever I do for myself, and for my parents. But nothing compares to seeing that smile on my Grandpas face whenever when I made an accomplishment. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that he’s looking down on me smiling. He was the funniest person I’ve ever met. I could be sitting in the kitchen complaining, crying, upset, or stressed about something and my grandpa could always put a smile on my face. Some people saw him as such a rude, hard ass but if you really knew him you would know that he was probably one of the most caring people you would ever meet.

He was so motivated; he made sure that we were always taken care of. I miss him spoiling me every now and then. There was nothing better than Grandpa slipping me a few twenties under the table. He always told me I was a beautiful girl, he was always a believer in wearing lipstick; He believed that all women should always have a little but of color on their lips. Every time I put on lipstick I think about my Grandpa. If there’s one thing he told me that I will never forget, It would have to be to always strive for the best, always try to reach my goals, work hard no matter what I’m doing, and to never settle for anything. I hope I can find, and marry a man half as good as my Grandpa was. When he had his stroke and lost his ability to talk, my heart was broken. It was too unexpected, it happened too quickly. Tell your loved ones you love them while you can. Don’t take any ones love for granted; you never know when they’re going to leave you. There’s so many things I wish I could tell him, so many things I wish I could thank him for. Love them while they’re here.Image

5 Things I love today

This summer FLEW by. I’m in complete and total denial that In exactly 3 more days I will be moving into my college apartment to begin fall semester. With this upcoming move comes much laundry, packing, purchasing, as well as dealing with the fact that I will be moving out of my house and into an apartment to begin finding my own sense of independence. I have also been looking for little job opportunities in my college town. All of these transitions bring many mixed emotions. When things get hectic, I tend to complain nonstop about all the negative things going on in my life. It’s hard to think about all the positives while there are so many negatives. Sometimes it really helps to remind ourselves of the little blessings in our lives right now. Here are are 5 things that I’m lovin’ at the moment. When you wake up every morning you should think about five things you have been blessed with recently, I promise it will start your day off right!

Sugarland “Little Miss” – This is probably one of my favorite songs. Actually I’m almost positive it was written just for me because it’s basically my life. Every time I listen to this song I am filled with confidence that everything wrong in my life will work itself out. Because sometimes you gotta lose ’til you win and it’s never to late to be little miss brand new start.

The fact that we get a opportunity to “write a new story” in our lives every day – Everyday is a new day. You get to decide what you do with your day, every day. You get to write you own story; isn’t that beautiful?

Pink lipstick – I like it and it makes me happy. So there’s that.

The little things – I’m thankful for all of the little things in my life. Sometimes those mean more to me than any big thing ever could. You should always smile. Smile at people you don’t even know, you never know how it will effect them and their day. Appreciate all the things that make you laugh. I can’t tell you how many amazing memories I have laughing until I cried with my friends. I can think about the things we have laughed about and laugh out loud because of them still to this day.  Those are the moments you will cherish forever, those are the moments you will never forget. Be thankful for that.

The hard times – As much as I complain about all the things wrong in my life, I am thankful for them. I wouldn’t be the girl I am today without them. Every loss, heartbreak, fight, argument, I am thankful for. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. When things go wrong in your life, think about the bigger picture. Even though things are rough, they are for a reason, you will become a better person for it, and they will bring you to right where you’re supposed to be.

25 things

      You should know..

You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the whole world, but there’s still going to be someone who hates peaches. Truth is, not everyone is going to like you. Love the people that do.

Stand with arms wide open. Be ready to accept whatever life has to throw at you. When life throws you curves, be ready to swerve. Be ready to change your plans.

Stand strong in your faith. Let your faith be your eyes. Let the joy of the Lord be your strength. Look to him always. I promise if you do that, you’ll have a wonderful life ahead of you.

Your mistakes do and don’t make you who you are. It’s a play on words, I know. Your mistakes shape you into the person you’re supposed to be, and sometimes they even make you a much better person than what you were. Contradicting that, mistakes don’t make a person. Someone could’ve done something horrible in the past, but that may not reflect who they are as a person.

Love your parents. Your parents will show you the true meaning of unconditional love if you let them. Yeah, they’re annoying, maybe they nag too much. But they’ll love you when you make your biggest mistakes, when you feel like no one else does. When you have no one else, you’ll always have them. Keep that in mind.

Be a forgiver.  People have the ability to cut you down and burn you. And when they do, love them anyway. Forgive them for their mistakes. Move on. Look past it. Forgive.

Don’t focus on all the things you wish you could have. Be thankful and love all the things you do have.

Don’t be a complainer. As I was doing one of my bible studies, I came across this verse: “It is better to be living in a waste land, than with a bitter-tongued and angry woman.” PROVERBS 21:19. That should scream “don’t be a complainer” to you.

You can’t fix people. So don’t waste your time.

Chase your dreams. Recently, I’ve been taught through someone else that you can’t live your life scared of your dreams. You have to go for it. If you really want something, make it yours. If you set out to make it yours, it will be.

Mean what you say, say what you mean. Don’t let anything come out of your mouth that you don’t mean. Don’t make a promise you can’t keep. It only ends up hurting people.

People are going to talk. Give them something to talk about.

You’re worthy. Don’t settle for someone who doesn’t treat you with the respect and trust you deserve. Point blank.

Cherish your friendships. Guys will come and go, but a solid group of friends will always have your back. Even when you’ve found the one that’s your forever, your friends will be your support system through the good, and bad.

People are going to let you down. All your life you’re going to have people who are going to let you down. It’s just the cold hard truth. Even the people you never thought would let you down, will. Forgive them anyway.

You will never benefit from shallow people. They’re toxic. Cut them out of your life.

You are loved. Even when you’ve hit rock bottom, your all time low, you are loved.

Regret is real. It’s going to happen. If someone tells you they have no regrets, they’re lying. Everyone has something happen they wish they could change. Learn from it & don’t make the same mistake twice.

Set goals. It shouldn’t just be a January first kinda thing. I’ve found that if you don’t have goals, life can get chaotic and out of hand.

Don’t hold onto your past. That person or thing is not in your future for a reason. Let it go. The past will dictate your life if you let it, don’t let it.

You’re beautiful. You were created in Gods perfect image, love yourself as you are. You’ve got to embrace what it is that you bring to the table. You are you for a reason and purpose.

Who you are is not where you’ve been. Just because you’ve done something you shouldn’t have done, it doesn’t change who you are as person. Don’t let anyone judge you for your past, you don’t live there anymore.

Always be fearless. It’s important to live today without fear of tomorrow. What all would you do if you weren’t afraid? Think about it.

Always be thankful. There’s someone out there who has it ten times as worse as you.

Always be you.
